 Proton String Quartet
In the spring of 2005, violinists Teppo Ali-Mattila and Siiri Rasta, with viola player Maarit Holkko and cellist Veli-Matti Iljin, made their long-time dream come true. Brought together by their wide knowledge of different genres of music, an unprejudiced attitude, strong musicianship and many years of experience, they founded Proton String Quartet. Since 2009 Matilda Haavisto has been playing permanently in the quartet in stead of Siiri Rasta. PSQ has worked with Kimmo Pohjonen, Samuli Kosminen, Juuso Hannukainen, Essi Wuorela, Sid Hille and the Platypus Ensemble, Tuomari Nurmio, Veeti Kallio, Manuel Dunkel Quartet, Kanteleliitto and Satu Sopanen, among others.
PSQ is looking for quality and imagination when considering a new project. We also transcribe new arrangements for string quartets.
